Another Divergence Academy Success Story…

Sometimes it takes a difficult decision to bring about career-boosting outcomes. Such was the case when Rodrigo had the confidence to follow his dream instead of settling for the status quo and taking ‘no’ for an answer.

Rodrigo’s family were skilled laborers for generations – barbers, construction workers, tradesmen and such, but he wanted something different. With a wife and hopes of a family later on, he sought to advance himself, becoming a student at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. There he studied Math and Economics, earning a Master’s degree.

Rodrigo started his early career working a full-time job, while also teaching at Northlake College as a Math instructor. What he really wanted was a career in Data Science. He knew that the opportunities in this field were only going to expand and wanted to be part of it.

He asked his boss if he could take the time from his full-time job to improve his skills. His boss said no. That was a major turning point for Rodrigo. He took a leap of confidence, quit his job and began his quest.

Rodrigo had met some of the Divergence Academy people at one of the Data Science meetups. He made the decision to enter the Data Science weekend class, accruing 60 hours of Data Science training over a 6-week period.

Once he had completed his coursework, Rodrigo worked with Divergence Academy to interview and find the right job. The interviewing was in full swing and nine months later, the perfect Data Science position became a reality for Rodrigo.

A dream he never gave up on was now his thanks to his perseverance and the dedicated support of Divergence Academy.

Rodrigo landed his dream job in Data Science at JB Hunt in Arkansas, where he and his wife now live comfortably in their new house and enjoy the privilege of working in careers they love.
